This edit looks at the unique and detailed art form of miniature artworks. 

First seen in Western art around the 1460s as forms of decorations on illustrated books, known as illuminated initials. It's Latin word 'miniare', translates 'to colour with red lead', a practice that was used for the capital letters.

These were then popularised by the French and English courts in the 1520s as a portable form of portraiture and personal adornments, later exploring with various materials and techniques. Although not as small as their Medieval and Renaissance predecessors, this curation of our favourite PE small scale artworks demonstrates great skill and certainly proves that they can be standouts regardless of their size.
