Artist
Zahra Holm
Originally from Sweden and Tunisia, contemporary artist Zahra Holm lives and works in Paris, France. She started drawing at a very young age and is a self-taught painter, primarily working with oil paint. Her abstract works are a fusion of colour studies, and musings on the female form and female experience.
Zahra's Style
Zahra is fascinated by the female form, the main subject of her work. Her bold use of colour and curvaceous lines create striking compositions that reflect the beauty and power of women. The forms suggest femininity: the conventionally considered female, the symbolic female, and the abstract female.
Her work is a tribute to the essence of femininity, discovering beauty in imperfection. She confronts through her art the society of today, where perfection is everywhere. Zahra filters her personal experiences, questioning and analysing herself through abstraction and simplification.
"My work is a tribute to the essence of femininity; a modern female-focus, bringing forth questions surrounding beauty ideals, body shape and gender. Abstract shapes and curvaceous lines, are used to express their feelings, tell their stories." - Zahra Holm

Drop 4 - High Summer 2021
"The continuity of my long series ‘Des paysages dans la tête’. This a series I have been working on since the beginning of the pandemic. Fantasized landscapes which comes to life in an abstract way, expressing the mirroring nature between for example the ocean and the human soul. Landscapes fuses into bodies, bodies into landscapes. For this new drop I have combined different landscapes: the ocean, mountains, sunsets, vegetation… Everything I have a connection with and live with me." - Zahra Holm, Landscapes In My Head
Drop 5 - Winter 2020
"Painting is for me the reflection of my feelings and moods, this collection is all about that. The title MO-ROSE comes from the French word « morose » which means gloomy. In this very odd period we are living, some days can be quite gloomy and I tried to be optimistic instead. I expressed this feeling through happy colors that make me feel good, alive and reassured. Unintentionally I had created this series with common tones and the guideline is pinky tones: ‘rose’ in French. The result of it is a series of abstract shapes that shows the face of emotion and how the whole body is expressing itself." - Zahra Holm, Mo-Rose
Drop 4 - Autumn 2020
"The beginning of a series called “Des paysages dans la tête” which means in french: landscapes in my head. This series is inspired by the summer and the landscapes I have experienced in the south of France. I think that as a lot of people during this awkward period, I feel the need to reconnect with nature.
During the lockdown, I fantasized about these landscapes that I couldn’t experience physically. This summer represented a real return to sources. I want to express how these landscapes live with us, are part of us, our body and soul." - Zahra Holm, Des paysages dans la tête
