Sophie-Nicole Dodds
Tailoring as a practice forms the background of Sophie's work. Focusing on tender moments and her memories; tugging cloth, cocooning bedsheets, un-wearing garments or our sensitive touches between one another holding them in space.
In blurring the boundaries between the artworks, objects and the life they represent, she explores the ways in which our experiences of historical archive resonate with the material memories we collect for ourselves. Making, wearing, mending and caring are celebrated as processes of not just the past but present.
"I aim to communicate the importance of slow, repetitive life movements within the domestic space. Printmaking and drawing emphasise the permanence of mark making along with laying textures. I like to show works on paper alongside garments as it maps their relationships along lines of wear, repair and care." - Sophie-Nicole Dodds
