123/ The Design Edit with Sophie Sellu, Grain & Knot
In celebration of London Design Festival we chat to Sophie Sellu, founder of Grain & Knot. Rooted in a deep respect for natural materials and traditional craftsmanship, Sophie creates objects made slowly with storm-fallen, sustainably sourced, and reclaimed timber.
The sculptural yet functional pieces she creates are a testament to the beauty of slow and thoughtful design and craft. In this conversation, we explore her design inspiration, from her favourite places to go in search for creativity, her favourite accounts to follow, and her curation of pieces by Grain & Knot, and Partnership Editions.
DESIGN Q&A
Where do you go for inspiration? I always get out into nature, the shift in seasons particularly inspires me.
Usually, a woodland or a seafront with my dog Stanley!
Favourite piece you own? I have a number of pieces from Laxmi Hussain and love them all.
Favourite designer? Toogood! Their work spans lifestyle, home, interior and fashion which I find incredibly inspiring
