Alina Welch is an artist with an interest in balance and simplicity. Her work explores the honesty of nature and the vulnerability of her own intuitive impulses. She absorbs information — visual, psychological, spiritual — and recrafts it. Finding patterns and extracting essence, she returns it to the source in a distilled form. She attributes this in part to growing up in a multilingual home, where translation meant stripping away complexity to find what was actually being said. 

Her paintings are composed of natural tones derived from earth pigment, water soluble oil, and acrylic paint. The thin raw canvas and linen that she uses are washed and dried to achieve a soft woven feel, then stained with an oil wash before composition begins. "My practice is rooted in remaining fluidly connected to the moment. Moving quickly and without thought, I am forced to use my intuition and rely on a deeper sense of balance — observed in nature and coded somewhere in my soul."

Welch studied visual art at California State University, Fullerton, followed by three years of intensive personal study where she developed her grounded approach to painting.
