Artist
Elliott Pittam
Elliott paints scenes that feel both familiar and dreamlike, where characters are reimagined through a contemporary lens. His layered process of painting and scratching back reveals traces of the past carried forward in time, considering the symbols and traditions that have defined his heritage.
After over a decade of work as a tattoo artist, Elliott expanded his creative practice, using painting as a break from his highly detailed black and white tattoo work. The strong sense of colour and simplicity of his characters serves as an exploration of alternative mediums and ways of seeing.
"The work’s about the stories we’re handed down, and how rough around the edges they really are." - Elliott Pittam

"I’ve seen Elliots work before, and I love the way his paintings combine folkloric and surreal elements, his figurative work blends reality with dreamlike imagination. His use of warm earthy tones - worn, scratched and textured. His depictions create a mix of the familiar and the fantastical." - Russell Loughlan
