Gabriella Picone
Gabriella Picone is a New York-based artist and designer working in painting, textiles, and ceramics. Her practice is fueled by her exploration of materials and by her creative upbringing in both Sicily and in New York. She graduated from The Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Painting in 2010 and in 2019, she founded Idda Studio. Meaning “her” in Sicilian dialect, Idda Studio celebrates the mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Drawing inspiration from the history and traditions of Sicily, Idda Studio combines contemporary painting and classical storytelling to create wearable limited edition works of art. The versatile textiles can be worn as a scarf, pareo, hung on the wall, or used as decoration in the home. The ultra-soft silk and cotton are delicately produced in Italy and features original paintings.
"I draw on my personal experiences and stories of inspiring women when designing new fabric works. I love the ability to bring my paintings to life and create limited edition designs that are both works of art and functional."

The Home Open Call Collection
"The Sole collection is a series of limited edition hand painted textile works that have been printed in Italy on silk and cotton fabrics. Sole, meaning sun in Italian, is a celebration of Sicilian culture and draws reference to classic mythology, Italian folklore and traditional craft. The vibrant collection of designs are works of art that can also be used in the home." - Gabriella Picone, Sole
