Katarina Lalic

Katarina Lalic is a painter (b.1998) born in London. Katarina received First Class Honours from Central Saint Martins BA Fine Art. She cites Joan Mitchell, Édouard Vuillard, and Andrew Cranston as her influences. She currently works in her studio in Hackney, predominantly in oil. Katarina's paintings emerge gradually as she grapples with each layer of paint to produce multi-layered stories of abstraction.

Katarina's creative process is characterized by the gradual evolution of her paintings, as she meticulously layers paint to develop intricate, multi-faceted abstract narratives. Her work is deeply inspired by nature, translating observed natural elements into layered abstractions. Whether capturing the contours of hills or the delicate features of hydrangeas, Katarina's paintings resonate with the essence of nature and landscapes, conveyed through dense paint.

"Plein air drawings lay the groundwork for the paintings I craft in the studio, where the natural elements I observe in the real world inspire the imagined landscapes of my art. By merging direct observation with creative interpretation, I dissolve the boundaries between reality and fantasy, weaving both realms into a cohesive whole." - Katarina Lalic
