Lené Ehlers
Lené Ehlers is an artist based in Cape Town, South Africa. Her whimsical style of work explores ancient motifs and patterns in dreamy colour palettes. Her mediums of expression include artworks, ceramics, fabrics and murals.
Her process is very emotive and intuitive. She feels the different colour combinations and layouts of an artwork and that is the starting point for each piece. Her work is inspired by ancient patterns and symbols found in textiles and ceramics. Influences include Greek ceramics, Suzani textiles and the spontaneity and colours of the Post-Impressionists especially of Matisse, Gauguin and Van Gogh.
"Beauty is a central theme and intention in my work. I’d like the viewer to feel enchanted, romanced and whisked away."
