Lover’s Eye Rings

We’re excited to present Sophie Glover’s first collection of hand-painted rings - Lover’s Eye Rings.

Made to keep a loved one close, each ring contains a bespoke miniature watercolour painting of an eye commissioned by you upon ordering. Whether commissioning your own eye or someone else’s, to give or to keep, we can discuss exactly what is right for you.

Lover’s Eye miniatures first became popular in the late 1700s and were originally given in secret as a way of keeping a (literal!) eye on lovers. Later they were used as love tokens and eventually, they became Memento Mori.

For this collection, Sophie has designed three Lover’s Eye rings: The Decade Ring, The Valerie Ring, and The Ritual Ring. The hand-crafted rings are cast in gold using the lost wax technique and the hand painted miniatures, set behind crystals, are rendered in the light, feathery brush strokes that the original miniaturists used.

Sophie makes paintings, drawings and jewellery in her London studio. Established by her Great-Great Grandpa - Lazarus - her family have been jewellers in Hatton Garden since the mid-1880s this is where she first became inspired by Lover’s Eye miniatures and Victorian sentimental jewellery.
