Mixed media artist Lucy Naughton creates intuitive abstract paintings and collages inspired by the collected materials that fill her home. Through sorting and arranging antique frames, books, and papers, she builds tactile compositions that sit happily together as a collection or stand alone individually. Central to her practice is an embrace of history; the natural signs of age and imperfections within her sourced elements are celebrated, ensuring every artwork is entirely unique.

Working from her London studio, Lucy allows the physical story of her gathered objects to guide her direction. Her process focuses on the organic harmony of these materials, transforming fragments of the past into contemporary art.

"When I don’t know where to start with a new collection I open up a crumbly old frame. Within it I will always find a jumping off point for a new piece of work. I try to keep my meddlesome brain out of the process for as long as possible and let the hand and the eye work instinctively."
