About The Artist
Brooklyn-based Dutch Macedonian artist Nathalie Basoski creates compelling photographic and mixed media works that explore the selective nature of memory and the quiet tension between wholeness and fragmentation. Drawing from the rich tradition of female quilt-makers, she engages in material-guided improvisations, incorporating everyday domestic textiles like linen, curtains, and clothing into her compositions. Through tightly cropped and reconfigured imagery, Nathalie transforms these mundane materials into intimate, fantastical landscapes that capture the subtle traces of human presence and absence.
Since earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Pratt Institute in 2018, her work has been exhibited internationally and is included in prominent institutions such as The Contemporary Art Museum in Skopje, North Macedonia, and The Susquehanna Art Museum in Pennsylvania, alongside numerous New York City galleries such as Gallery MC, Amos Eno Gallery, and BWAC.
“Drawing from the tradition of female quilt-makers, I transform the mundane into fantastical yet deeply human works. By reconfiguring these images, I want to invite the viewer to confront the tension between wholeness and fragmentation.”
