Artist Nikki Heaton creates sculptural textiles that give physical form to unspoken emotional resonance. Working through a deeply tactile process, her practice explores how colour and material carry memory, intimacy, and human connection. Using a curated archive of gathered textiles and her mother’s inherited sewing machine, she crafts layered compositions that respond to the quiet subtleties of lived experience, transforming maternal heritage and personal reflection into nuanced, tactile works.

Nikki’s practice is grounded in a 25-year career in product, colour, and material design, during which she consulted for major global brands including Jaguar Land Rover and McLaren. Following the birth of her son in 2020, she returned to fine art, seeking an uncompromised, intimate space where creative care and intention remain fully intact.

Her work embraces sensitivity as a core creative force. “I have always been someone who feels the world deeply, and in detail. For a long time I was told that was too much. Now I understand it's exactly what the work requires.”
