That One Spoke To Her
About The Artist
London-based British artist Rebecca Sammon creates vibrant, kinetic works using pencil and oil pastel on paper. Driven by the immediacy of her medium, she layers solid planes of colour while working directly into the surface to reveal and conceal lines, allowing unexpected forms to emerge by chance.
Her bold palette draws inspiration from Pierre Bonnard’s transportive landscapes and Hilma af Klint’s structural balance. Exploring the movement of the human body and the fluid boundaries of mythology, Rebecca shapes open-ended visual stories meant to evoke a sensory, rhythmic depth.
Rebecca studied Fine Art at the University of Brighton, alongside a formative period studying painting and poetry in Kansas. After working in fashion, she traveled throughout Asia—drawing daily from her imagination to capture the ambient energy of her surroundings—before completing The Drawing Intensive at the Royal Drawing School. Her work has been exhibited at spaces like Blue Shop Cottage and Bowes-Parris Gallery, and is held in private collections globally, including Soho House.
"My aim is to create something that feels close to music. I want the work to transport the viewer to another space for them to explore."
