About The Artist
Ruba Nadar is a London and New York based artist working across painting and collage. Her practice draws on personal and public archives, Egyptian cinema, and queer image cultures to explore tenderness, physicality, and memory through processes of cropping, layering, and reassembling.
Nadar holds an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art (2024) and a BA in Art History from Barnard College, Columbia University (2021). She is the recipient of the A.I.R. Gallery Fellowship for 2026-2027 in New York, USA. Her work has been exhibited internationally, most recently; Pipeline Gallery, London, UK (2026); JO-HS Gallery, New York, USA (2026), OHSH Projects, London, UK (2026).
“For this collection of work, titled Sports Lovers, I am interested in the queer eroticism embedded within athletics and the way sport becomes a space where strength, beauty, performance, intimacy, and desire intersect. I draw on vintage bodybuilding magazines, wrestling imagery, Egyptian film stills, and my own family archive, using collage and painting to reassemble these fragments into new narratives that explore longing, and the politics of looking”.
