Artist
Eryn Lougheed
Eryn Lougheed is an artist from Vancouver Island, Canada, currently based in London.
Working primarily in oil on canvas and ceramic, her work considers theatrical space as an environment that is both real and imagined, closing the distance between inner and outer realms. It is a world guided by its own internal principles, with objects suspended in space, moving on their own accord. Built up with translucent layers of oil paint, her paintings are windows into phantasmagorical scenes. Populated by recognizable or nearly recognizable forms, they hover in the dreamlike space between familiar and unfamiliar.
Eryn earned a Bachelor of Design from Ontario College of Art and Design University in 2019, and is a part of the Turps Studio Programme 2023-2025 cohort.
"Surreal paintings and sculptures weave together amorphous scenes of specific objects and equivocal narratives, considering notions of craft, femininity, reproduction, repetition, and intervention" — Eryn Lougheed

Emblems - An Exhibition by Eryn Lougheed, Lily Snowden-Fine and Sophie Glover
We're delighted to bring you Emblems, a group exhibition by Eryn Lougheed, Lily Snowden-Fine and Sophie Glover held at Lant Street Wine from 23rd to 27th October 2024. Discover the exhibition.
With all three artists working across painting and sculpture, Emblems considers the experience of meaning and memory through objects. Gesturing towards art historical archetypes of still life and tableau, these works bring together ideas of domesticity, ephemerality, and theatricality. Spaces of the domestic are woven into symbolic sites of imagination.
For Emblems, Eryn Lougheed’s surreal paintings and sculptures weave together amorphous scenes of specific objects and equivocal narratives, considering notions of craft, femininity, reproduction, repetition, and intervention.
