Euan Evans
Cornish-born artist Euan Evans is an artist living and working in London. His background in music shapes his exploration of improvisation, texture, and composition within image-making. His work is heavily laboured using densely woven printed surfaces, coppersmithing, plaster etchings to discuss personal experiences through material processes. Through their form and materiality, these objects share a relationship with artefacts and narratives of his upbringing in the Cornish landscape.
Evans studied Jazz at Leeds Conservatoire before joining The Drawing Year at the Royal Drawing School in 2022. He later completed an MA in Printmaking at The Royal College of Art, where he was awarded the Printmaker’s Council Sheila Sloss Award at his graduation show in 2023.
"Incorporated elements of drawing, printmaking and sculpture, my work finds agency through the interplay of varying substrates as well as the specific use of colour." - Euan Evans

The Open Call Winners Collection 2024
“Straying” is a collection of works by Euan Evans that have been created over the past two years. These works are inspired by drawing while traveling and discovering new landscapes, often away from his studio in London, particularly during his journeys to his family home in Cornwall. His most recent works are influenced by a residency at Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Scotland. They reflect his experiences during walks in Ochiltree, showcasing familiar and unfamiliar landmarks of mining history, as well as the wild and intimate surroundings of the Isle of Arran.
