Georgie Huxley (b.2000) is a British painter living and working in London. Working primarily in oil on linen, she is drawn to the emotional charge within everyday moments. Through layered mark-making and tonal subtlety, she builds images that dwell in liminal spaces, where presence and absence blur. 

Much of Huxley’s work begins with her own experiences and family history. Her recent paintings centre on her mother’s life before she was born. Working from old photographs as sacred fragments of a life she never witnessed. She is drawn to her mother as a young woman, navigating her own life, and to the strange familiarity of seeing parts of herself in someone who existed long before her. For Huxley, painting is a way of working through thoughts and feelings that exceed words, often holding a tension between what feels deeply significant to us and the much larger world beyond ourselves.

Huxley graduated with First Class Honours from the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London, in 2023, where she was awarded the Slade Stanbury Prize for Achievement at degree show. Her work is held in private collections in the UK and internationally and has been exhibited across the UK, including Remains To Be Seen, a solo exhibition on Brick Lane, London (2025), Figurative Impressions: In Plain Sight at Hurst Contemporary (2025), Sound and Vision (2026, 2025), and Alone Together, London (2024).
