David Hardy’s abstract practice focuses on the composition and arrangement of colour in a subtle and minimal way. Drawing inspiration from the natural landscape, photography, and organic forms, he translates the land, seas, and skies of West Wales into atmospheric pieces. His former career as a graphic designer gives him a keen eye for form, utilising a limited colour palette to emphasise depth, tone, and texture. Living and working in rural Wales alongside his wife, fellow artist Lisa Hardy, the two share a deep creative dialogue, constantly influenced by each other and the elements that shape the countryside.

Born in Southampton, Hardy studied Fine Art Printmaking at Winchester School of Art, graduating in 1995. Before dedicating himself fully to painting, he worked in London as a resident graphic designer for the Royal Society of Arts and the London College of Fashion.
