About The Artist
London-based Dutch artist Maarten van den Bos approaches the canvas with a deeply intuitive and abstract sensibility. His practice centers on the fluid, physical act of mark-making, allowing compositions to emerge organically through loose, gestural layers of texture and color. Rather than working from a rigid blueprint, Maarten lets the creative process itself dictate the direction of each piece, exploring the quiet tension between space and form to create evocative, non-representative works that invite contemplation.
Born in Holland, Maarten graduated with an MA (Hons) in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art. Over the past decade, he has built an international presence, exhibiting at notable institutions including Studio Ashby, the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) and Saatchi Gallery in London, alongside leading spaces in Amsterdam. Today, his paintings are held in prominent private collections worldwide—including the permanent collection at Soho House Barcelona.
