Matthew Ritson is a photographer from London. After studying fine art at UAL (2007-2010) he was able to travel the world whilst playing in a band and explore a new relationship with photography and image-making that was more dependent on his location.
He works with both analogue and digital format photography, traveling the world to capture obscure, hazy and untouched landscapes that are then manipulated. These edits and abstractions take place most notably in the darkroom, using techniques that involve touch to trace memories and revisit the places in each image.
"This process really came about during the lockdown when it was almost impossible to travel. I wanted to explore a way in which I could revisit an archive of images, what would it look like to retrace my steps photographically speaking. This led me to start using water on the undeveloped prints as a way to physically trace parts of an image and outline a new way of connecting with them. The process is totally unique and can never be exactly replicated."

Once you have received your artwork, you have 14 days to return it to us for a full refund if you are not happy with it. Please note that the work must be returned in its original condition and in its original packaging. You are responsible for the cost of the return shipment, and we reccomend that you use a tracked and signed for service. If your work has been damaged during transit then please contact us via the contact page and we will help get to the bottom of it with you.
