About The Artist
UK-based visual artist Mona Sultan explores the tension between what is visible and what remains unknowable. Drawing on a background in graphic design, film, and fashion, her practice uses found photographs, collage, and mixed media to investigate how memory is shaped by absence and presence. Through acts of deliberate disruption—fracturing images with collage and interrupting narratives with paint—she creates “visual glitches” that allow her works to hover between coherence and dissolution.
Mona completed her MA in Fine Art at City & Guilds of London Art School in 2025. Her evolving visual language constructs compositions that resist closure, treating absence not as a void, but as a generative space that invites viewers to inhabit the gaps between certainty and ambiguity.
Her practice remains an open investigation into existential questions. “My process embraces fragmentation and chance as tools to disrupt fixed meanings and challenge conventional modes of representation. In doing so, my work does not attempt to resolve existential questions, but rather to sit within their uncertainty and make space for ambiguity as a generative force.”
