PAINTING A PORTRAIT AT HOME WITH CHRISTABEL BLACKBURN, PART 2This Video Will Automatically Appear on Thursday 21st May, 7pm Join Portrait Artist of The Year winner, Christabel Blackburn, in her second tutorial on painting a portrait. Coming back to your portrait with fresh eyes we will now refine the shapes and make sure things are in the correct place. You will now learn how to fill in shadow shapes and mid-lights. You'll make sure tonal values are correct and start to fill in your background. Materials you might need: Oil Paints. Colours Christabel will use are: Titanium White, Unbleached Titanium Dioxide, Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium red, Ultramarine Blue, Ivory Black. Brushes: I use flat, square head hogs brushes and synthetic. Medium: Christabel uses Zest It and linseed Oil and Zest It for cleaning my brushes. Christabel will be using a primed wooden Board but you can use canvas/canvas board/oil paper. Easel and/or drawing board if taping down paper. Mirror if doing self portrait. Hand held mirror for seeing mistakes.
